Shadow and Elliot thinking about coming in the kitchen. Shadow is a hackney pony mare. Elliot is a Miniature Horse gelding. We rescued both while we lived up north and brought with us. Shadow has Cushings' and all the terrible ailments that go with it. If you have a cushinoid equine, email me and I will tell you how we have made her life much more comfortable. Both are terribly spoiled. But isn't that what it's all about?

Grace rescued from a Canadian PMU Farm. I call her Amazing Grace. As Loving as she is beautiful.

Grace is an18h Percheron Mare rescued from a PMU Farm. We were lucky enough to get her, offering her a permanent home. Thank you to Laurene Bartfield for rescuing her and trusting us to keep her.

Betsy

Betsy is a rescued BLM Mustang that we are offering a foster home for  the United States Equine League. http://www.userl.org/ until she is able to be adopted. Update! We adopted Betsy......

Betsy needs a lot of love and patience for her to learn to trust again.

The league is always in  need of foster homes. Please consider helping where you can.

Elliot our Miniature Horse Gelding (aka Short Horse) Rescued from Auction

We lost Elliot this year (2010) due to his teeth worn so much he could eat with out choking. He would have to live on mush and Elliot lived to graze. He is in his very own pasture now.

My Favorite and First Baby

I lost my little buddy in 2006 in child birth.

Cocoa was our very first baby born on Shadow Ridge. Imprinted at birth, easy to handle and a love. 

In Memory of Shadow Ridge Cocoa Puff  We lost our beloved Cocoa on July 31st, 2006 during foaling. She is sadly missed by me and Chris and all the donkeys. They were all gathered together around her grave the other day and we can only guess what they were feeling.

See you on the other side my sweetheart. I was with you when you were born and held you in your last hours and you died in my arms.

You trusted me with your life and I pray you understand I had to make the decision I did.  God how I miss you.

We might never know why she became so weak and she almost died in my arms. Big Thanks to the wonderful people at State. She became the Mascot of the Hospital. She is back to being a sweet bouncing baby girl.

He is an 'in your pocket' loyal fella. Possible sale to a good home only. He was separated from his family very young so he is very close to me or those who will love him. Comes when called, follows you around like a dog. Such a sweetie.
