By the time Rachel the Mule was rescued from abuse and neglect, she had developed every bad behavior known to equines:
She was hard to catch.
She bolted through gates.
She broke away from her handler.
She was hard to bridle.
She would not allow her feet to be handled.
She would dangerously rear back when tied.
She would not stand still for saddling.
She would not stand still for a rider to mount.
Once mounted, she would bolt, run, and buck her rider off.
